| Hosny Mubarak Mubarak joined
the Military Academy on November 1, 1947 to be graduated on February 1, 1948. Then he
joined the Air Force Academy and graduated on March 13, 1950. He advanced through
different ranks of the Air Force until he was appointed Director of the Air Force Academy
on November 2, 1967. While on June 22, 1969, he assumed the position of Air Force Chief of
Staff. Four years later, on April 24, 1972, he became Commander of the Air Force.
In this capacity, he became in charge of the Air Force leadership during the 6th of
October War in 1973. After that Mubarak was assigned as Vice President on April 16, 1975
and October 1976 successively. Upon the assassination of late President Sadat, Mubarak
became Head of State on October 14, 1981.
During his reign, all the Egyptian land were fully liberated in continuation of the
implementation of the Egyptian-Israeli peace agreement. In addition to the implementation
of three five-years comprehensive development plans. He was re-elected for presidency for
three times in 1987, 1993 and 1999 with a wide popular support.
