President Mubarak and Mrs.
Mubarak attended Egypts celebration for the new millennium which took place by the
Pyramids. More than 100 thousands attended the celebration, 12 Dreams of the
Sun which marked the beginning of the third millennium, which is also counted as
Egypts 7th millennium. |

President
Mubarak visited the site of Egypts Millenium celebrations. He emphasized the
importance of presenting the celebrations in civilized and reputable manner. He also asked
the attendants to respect the Islamic norms and traditions of Ramadan during the
celebration.

President Mubarak received the sanction documents of
11 new ambassadors in Egypt representing Ecuador, Pakistan, Norway, Belgium, Japan,
Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Austria, Mauritania, Poland and Sri Lanka. The reception of the
ambassadors was attended by H.E. Amr Moussa and Mr. Zakria Azmy.

President Mubarak attended a meeting with Omar Al
Basheir, President of Sudan where they discussed the latest developments in Sudan, and in
particular the policies which will be taken to support the legal system in Sudan and to
bring the Egyptian-Libyan initiative into work.

President Mubarak concludes his round in Gulf area
with a short visit to Emirates, where he met H.E. Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan, President of
Emirates. They discussed providing support for Syria, Lebanon and Palestine in the
negotiations with Israel. They also discussed the situation in Sudan and supporting the
legal authorities there. Finally, the talks covered the possibilities of holding a
comprehensive, well-established Arab Summit.

President Mubarak held talks with H.E.
Sheikh Hamad Bin Essa, Prince of Bahrain, during his short visit to Bahrain. The talks
covered several issues, such as the possibility of holding an Arab Summit, as well as
recent developments in the peace process, particularly the revival of Syrian-Israel
negotiation. And finally the situation in Sudan and Iraq.
President Mubarak is due to visit Emirates next and to hold talks with H.E. Al Sheikh
Zayed Bin Sultan, President of Emirates.

After a successful visit to Saudi Arabia, President
Mubarak moves to Qatar, where bilateral discussions are due with H.E. Sheikh Hamad, Prince
of Qatar. President Mubarak had denied to the press that Sudan did request assistance from
Egypt. He also stressed on Egypts support for the legal authorities in Sudan.
President Mubarak is due to visit Bahrain and meet with H.E. Sheikh Hamd Bin Aisa, Prince
of Bahrain.

President Mubarak arrived at Al Raid during his round
in the gulf region, which will later on include visiting Qatar and Bahrain as well.Prime
Minister Dr. Atef Ebeid took leave of Mubarak at Cairo airport and his Excellency King
Fahd Ibn Abdel Aziz and crown prince Abdullah were at his reception in Saudi.
President Mubarak held a meeting with H.E. King Fahd during which they discussed the
potentials for holding Arab Summit and starting bilateral relations between Egypt and
Saudi. They also discussed the latest developments in the peace process and the resumption
of the Syrian-Israeli talks.

President Mubarak conferred Egypts highest
award on Ahmed Zewail, the winner of the 1999 Nobel Prize for chemistry.
In a ceremony at the presidential palace, Mubarak awarded the golden chain of the Nile
Necklace to Zewail.
President Mubarak said that grooming Zewail the Noble Prize in Chemistry this year
emphasizes the continual contribution of the Egyptians, and the world recognition of this
contribution.
He said also that Ahmed Zewail is the son of the ancient Egyptian civilization whose
achievements still bewilder the world standing motionless before some of its secrets.

President Mubarak held a meeting with Libyan
President Muamr Al Kazafy in Trabulus. The talks covered recent developments in Sudan.
Both presidents announced their absolute support for Sudanese leadership, and for legal
decisions taken by Sudanese President Al Bashier, which aimed at keeping the Sudan united.

President Mubarak held a meeting with Palestinian
President Mr. Yasser Arafat at the presidency headquarters. It was followed by extended
talks attended by the Egyptian and Palestinian delegations members. The meeting discussed
the importance of the integration between the negotiations on both Syrian and Palestinian
paths.

President Mubarak received Dr. Trachtenberg,
president of George Washington University. They discussed increasing students and staff
exchange between George Washington University and Egyptian Universities.

President Mubarak held a meeting with Dr. Eesa
Darweesh, the Syrian ambassador to Egypt at the presidency headquarters in Heliopolis. Dr.
Darweesh ended his diplomatic assignment as the Syrian ambassador in Cairo.

President Mubarak held two important meetings today. The
first was devoted to discuss the Law of Personal Affairs. President Mubarak emphasized the
neccessity of commitment to Islamic Sharia in modifying the current law into a new one.
This meeting was attended by the ministerial committee dedicated to discuss the new law.
In the second meeting, prime minister Dr. Atef Ebed presented the outline for the
government program, which will be presented in the government testimony to Peoples
Assembly next Satuday. |

President Mubarak received the US state minister
Madlin Albright. He discussed with her the recent developments in the peace process, and
in particular the development in the possibility of resuming peace talks between Syria and
Israel.

President Mubarak discussed in Sharm El Sheikh with
Mr. Brady Anderson, administrator of USAID, the future of the American Aid to Egypt, in
addition to the acheivements of the economic reform.

President Mubarak held talks with Palestinian
President Yasser Arrafat at the presidency headquarters in Heliopolis, and it covered the
difficulties that hinder the current negotiations between Palestinians and Israelis for
the dispute on the maps of Israeli withdrawal from West Bank in order to begin the second
phase of redeployment, or for economic reasons. They also discussed the Israeli siege the
entrance of Bet Lahm town with habitations and military sites, beside the continual trials
to judaize Jerusalem. And then they held wide talks attended by both Egyptian and
Palestinian delegations members.
